Highly valued for its ability to enhance soil fertility, improve water retention, and store carbon, biochar benefits both farmers and the environment. Discover how WICCARE Africa is leading the way in sustainable farming practices with biochar.
Read More →We take our biochar and supercharge it! Regular biochar is like a sponge, with lots of pores to hold things, but supercharged biochar is like a sponge that’s already been soaked in a nutrient-rich solution. We then mix our biochar with nutrient-rich compost and other ingredients. The biochar’s porous structure allows it to adsorb and hold onto these nutrients.
Mimi Moto is the ultimate cookstove, specially designed to burn pellets made from locally available biomass – such as wood or agricultural residues – in a very clean and efficient way. When Mimi Moto stove is used with WICCARE pellets, the emissions easily comply with the WHO’s stringent air quality guidelines. The MimiMoto is available as a standalone household cookstove and in the new ‘Build-in’ format, allowing institutions, hotels and eateries to retrofit their cooktops and benefit from savings of over 50% compared to Charcoal, LPG or firewood.

WICCARE is exploring the future of climate-smart construction by investigating the potential of biochar and bio-oil—the valuable by-products of biomass processing—as low-carbon alternatives to traditional materials like cement and asphalt. These construction staples carry some of the highest, hardest-to-abate carbon footprints in industry. Yet, by integrating even small amounts of negative-emissions inputs, such as biochar and bio-oil, has been calculated to neutralize or even reverse the carbon impact of concrete and asphalt. As we continue building partnerships with material producers, WICCARE remains committed to redefining construction through decarbonization and driving the industry toward a regenerative, net-negative future.
WICCARE Africa Limited is dedicated to decarbonizing the cold chain and enhancing human cooling in off-grid areas, significantly reducing CO2 emissions and methane from food waste. Recognizing that access to cooling is as essential as access to potable water, we employ a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) framework to ensure that everyone benefits from our solutions while addressing the diverse needs of various community groups and promoting active participation. Our goals focus on creating a sustainable cold chain that minimizes food waste and greenhouse gas emissions, fosters social equity, and contributes to a healthier planet while supporting multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Cold storage is vital as it extends the shelf life of products, reduces waste by minimizing spoilage, and leads to cost savings through optimized delivery times. Our innovative solutions have drastically reduced post-harvest loss for smallholder farmers from 40% to 5% by leveraging solar-powered cold rooms and ice flake machines, which keep fish fresh, minimize spoilage, and enhance hygiene. Through these initiatives, WICCARE Africa Limited is building a sustainable future, empowering communities, reducing waste, and supporting environmental goals. Join us in making a difference for a healthier planet and equitable access for all.
WICCARE is working toward a circular bioenergy future by partnering with leading Anaerobic Digestion (AD) technology providers to unlock value from wet organic waste. By targeting municipal and market waste streams, we aim to divert organic material from landfills and instead convert it into clean, renewable energy. The resulting biogas will be upgraded into bottled biomethane—a safe, sustainable alternative to LPG that can fuel households and small enterprises. Additionally, the process produces a nutrient-rich liquid digestate, which we will reintegrate into our biochar compost blends to enhance soil health and close the nutrient loop. These efforts represent a future in which waste is not discarded, but transformed into energy, livelihoods, and lasting environmental benefit.
Partner with us in building Africa’s renewable energy future — one product, one household, and one community at a time.
